Letter to Sloan/Self-Assessment III

Writer: Rebecca WangRebecca Wang

The Craft of Research really helped me. I would look through the chapters that we looked at and the other chapters when I need assistance with my writing. By doing the discussion posts, I found myself getting into the habit of questioning the things I write. I find myself asking what other people could say and how I could add to my writing. The Library Exercises helped me discover evidence outside of articles and books from the library. I learned to utilize multimodal evidence in my writing, which at times helped strengthened my offered and gave the readers a break from reading. The SlideDeck was so helpful. It helped me organize my project and offered my insights on where I was lacking. Not only the SlideDeck. The Concept mapping seriously helped because when I displayed my claims, ideas, groups, and evidence, I was able to see if the project in general would make sense or if it would spark conversation and controversy. Lastly, even though I was unable to go to office hours a lot due to my schedule, I found emailing Sloan so helpful. Every single time, in one email, he would answer all my questions and help me on areas I personally haven't acknowledged at the time but seriously came in handy when I did encounter it.

I didn't really have that much exposure to technology and the society, so I personally believed all of the links were really helpful. I think what would be great would be for the technology and body, you can include one or two optional reading on how technology helps and harms the body, such as sleep.

Advice: Don't be afraid to speak up and have fun exploring!
