Jack Conte is one of the creators of Patreon, which is a membership platform that makes it easier for artists and creators to get paid. For the most part of his speech, he created a video that complimented his speech. He points out major numbers and shows main pictures that go along with what he is saying. There was one image that had a green background and the number "$22,000," which really emphasized the money aspect since money is thought to be green. He tells his story through a lot of personal images and the YouTube video screenshots. There was also another image where he had the word "BUT" in white with a red background. I can imagine that if I was a part of the audience, that would really capture my attention (not that I wasn't paying attention already). He puts his personal experience through speech and images, revealing how being a musicians or a creator should not be looked down upon and how they should be actually be paid for what they do, which is why he created Patreon. He compared the number 20,000 people to what it really looks like in a concert, which puts a lot of things into perspectives. Live performances are being paid way more than digital audiences. The majority of the TEDTalk video was focused on him. The video/images are just there to clarify an image in people's head or to simply recapture audience's attention. He mentions various people who are success stories on his Patreon platform, ranging from YouTube content creators to a guy who did sports coverage. Even Crash Course uses Patreon. Podcasts. A traveling couple. He finishes his speech with words, not pictures.
